Having m.e. for about 12 years, I have tried many things along the way. I thought I would share some of the things I have done in the hope that it may help someone:- 1. Get a diagnosis - it took me about two and a half years! 2. See Prof. Pinching -you need professional back up 3. Join groups such as MESH/AfME/MEAssoc. - even if you cant get to the meetings, they can provide help and support and info. 4. O.T - my m.e. specialist o.t. from Prof.Pinching was enormously helpful with support, info and practical strategies for lifestyle changes-thank you Penny. 5. Friends - choose them wisely, good friends will be kind, considerate, understanding and maybe helpful, keep them and dump the negative, unhelpful ones, we have not got the energy for that. 6.Doctors - umm - lucky to have fairly good ones but not always great, just keep going, suss out the best one in your practice and change if necessary. 7. Rest, rest, rest - your body needs it and don't feel guilty. 8. Get help - whatever help you can get - accept it, unless the person offering makes you feel worse, from doctors, o.t's. friends, family, church, charities, whatever -accept it, do not be a martyr, you are ill and need your energy for recovery. I have a cleaner once a week and would not be without him. 9. Eat well - as well as you can within budget and energy levels, organic where possible, raw foods are good as require no cooking, drink plenty of water, wholegrain, fruit and veg - you know the routine. 10. Supplements - may be controversial but I take quite a few. 11. Sleep - good quality sleep is essential. I sleep at least nine hours a night, more if possible. No tv etc in your bedroom. More to come soon, Liz x |

I recommend everyone to get their B12 tested) Iron (works with B12 to produce blood, and I have heavy periods so take this to help counteract any loss), Folic acid ( Need this with B12 and iron to make blood) Vitamin C (to help ward against any infections) Fish oil Natural progesterone ( I am approaching menopause and my hormones are out of balance. I am oestrogen dominant so need progesterone, absolutely essential for me) Agnus castus( helps with hormonal imbalances) Calcium magnesium and zinc (calcium for ou bones, and I don't have a lot in my diet, magnesium for muscle cramps and zinc to guard against infections) Evening primrose oil (for my pms!) Chromium (I am trying to lose weight at the moment and this is supposed to help!) Milk thistle (to support and help to detox the liver) Feverfew (I have been getting migraines recently so am trying this to ward them off) Of course this is my personal supplement regime but if any symptoms apply to you then it is worth a try. Be careful when you start any supplement or drug as we are known to be extra sensitive to some things. I don't take many prescription drugs now, but have taken quite a few things in the past. Will message again soon with other info, can't stay on computer too long. Let me know more info and we can see what ideas we can come up with. I am not a doctor, just someone with m.e. who has tried and researched quite a few things. Meanwhile take care of yourself, be kind to yourself and rest, rest, rest. Love Liz x |
